Min Tamesa

Minoru Tamesa was an oyster farmer and millworker from the Highline area south of Seattle. He was described as a physically intimidating martial artist who held the 3rd degree in kendo and a brown belt in judo.

At Heart Mountain he joined Frank Emi in testing the limits of their incarceration by trying to walk out of camp without a pass. They were arrested and interrogated. Tamesa refused induction when drafted and was one of the original 63 resisters to stand trial. He was brought back to federal court to stand trial a second time as one of the seven leaders of the Fair Play Committee.

Tamesa passed away in his early fifties back in Seattle.
